1320 Independence Dr
Augusta, GA 30901
(706) 724-4174

Description:

Home to George Walton, one of the three Georgian men who signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776, Meadow Garden was this prominent leader's home from 1792 until his death in 1804. The historic home has since been filled with antique items and furnishings from the 18th and early 19th centuries, restoring it to the appearance it would have had during Walton's own occupancy. Guided tours of the house help illuminate the items preserved as well as Walton's personal story. The home sits near The Lucy Craft Laney Museum of Black History and about a mile from The Boyhood Home of President Woodrow Wilson.
