Housed within two historic buildings, built in 1818 and 1907, the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art is an educational facility dedicated to the creation and display of art. Two gallery areas feature the works of artists from the area and around the United States, as well as occasional contemporary art displays and showcases of art by regional students. After touring the galleries, visitors can walk around the historic buildings and explore some of their architectural oddities, like the elliptical stairway that travels between the three stories of Ware's Folly. Situated east of downtown, the houses are located just two blocks past The Boyhood Home of President Woodrow Wilson.
Open Tue. - Fri. 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; Sat. by appointment.
Free.
