The Augusta Canal National Heritage Area Interpretive Center explores the history and significance of this 1845 power generating canal. Employing hands-on displays, elucidating text and sights of the canal itself, the center shows the canal's importance in the local milling industry, during the Civil War and in powering the entire region. The center is in the heart of Augusta, on the southern end of the Augusta Canal, now a outdoor activity and recreational area.
